Mayes Wholesale Tack, Inc. was originally started in 1932 as Elkin Leather Company in Elkin, NC. Lacy Mayes bought the company in 1983 from a dear friend. Mr. Mayes had little knowledge of the equine supply business at the time. However, with the help of some loyal employees, he learned the craft of leather-working and the business of pet-supply distributor. He moved the business 10 years later to Cana, VA, changing the name to Mayes Wholesale Tack. Today, the family-owned business thrives and prides itself in manufacturing goods in the USA.
